Put them in your binder and start analyzing them. Do you budget to low on utilities because you simply “hope” you will have more money? By keeping items like this in a binder, analyze it after 2-3 months to see what hiccups are causing the big difference between budget and actual.

Every Day Budget Printables to Save Money Cooking

Studies have shown that we all will save money if we simply plan meals. That can be anything from just planning dinners alone or planning all 21 meals for the week! No matter how you get started meal planning, these tools are going to help you jump start into success!!

How to Start Meal Planning

  1. Begin each week of meal planning by pulling out your personal/family calendar to see what is going on for the upcoming week. There is no sense in planning a 90 minute meal when you have 20 minutes on Tuesday to get in and of the door until 9pm.
  2. Set realistic expectations for each night. Be honest with yourself, your family and your amount of actual time to execute a meal. Then place what is feasible in each night.
  3. Make a grocery list. There are several here to help you as it is more fun to work off of a fun paper than the back of an envelope.
  4. Meal prep for about 20-30 minutes when you return home from grocery shopping to get the week in order.

When you are just starting out, the most successful way to achieve this is going to be by picking one meal per day to prep and once you have that under control-move on to doing 2 meals/day meal prepping. If you go from never meal prepping to “I’m going to meal prep every meal from now on!” It will lead to disaster!
