Its culinary alchemy has the power to make being in this rather chaotic world, oh so much more divine. And let’s face it, we all need some of that every now and again!

A special homemade maca chocolate recipe

This is a particularly special recipe. Not only does it embrace the fabulous nutritional profile of raw cacao, it also benefits from the welcomed health benefits of maca. Maca is a superior plant-food that grown at very high elevations in the Peruvian Andes. It is a powerful adaptogen, which means that it helps us to ‘normalise’ during stressful situations. Maca helps our vitality, balances hormones and supports us during anxiety and depression. In fact it has a catalogue of benefits.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 10 minutes

An artisan chocolate recipe, using maca root powder and other superfoods.

Ingredients

50g raw cacao butter
3 tablespoons coconut sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons raw cacao powder
1 tablespoon gelatinised maca powder
2 tablespoons raisins

Instructions

Melt the raw cacao butter in a heat proof bowl, by placing it in a pan filled with a small amount of water and then heating. I highly recommend taking a peek at my super-quick chocolate making video above to see exactly how this is done.

Dissolve the coconut sugar and vanilla extract along with the cacao butter.

Mix in the cacao powder, maca powder and raisins once the contents of the bowl have melted.

Spoon into a chocolate mould. If you don't have a mould then use a small container lined with parchment paper and simply snap the chocolate in to pieces when set).

Pop in to the freezer for half an hour to set (or a little longer in the fridge).

These store in either the fridge or freezer.

I love maca with chocolate! These are so gorgeous. By the way, I bought your book for my mum and she (and I) LOVE it! She’s a vegetarian who is looking to go vegan but needs a little nudge. As she’s such a spiritual person (especially into her angels) I thought this would be the best way to help her along and I think it’s really helpful. Hugs x

  I’ve not yet come across monk fruit. If it comes in powdered or granular form then it would definitely worth playing with though.
